7th Grade Mesoamerica Assignment Due Monday, October 18th!

Mesoamerican Achievements Assignment

Directions: You have just finished learning about three different civilizations in Mesoamerica. Your job is to create a flag that represents one of these civilizations. You will also include a one page typed or written write-up explaining your flag and giving two examples of how the civilization is similar to our culture today.

Getting Started:
1. Choose which civilization you want to focus on: Maya, Aztec or Inca
2. You will need a piece of white paper given to you by me.
3. Brainstorm on what symbols/words you will have to represent your civilization
4. Begin your flag
5. When you are finished with your flag, begin your write-up explaining your flag and how your chosen civilization is similar to our culture today.
6. Proofread!!
7. Turn in on Monday, October 18th 2010.
Grading:
You will be graded on the following:
Your flag is detailed with color and appropriate symbols representing your civilization
You can use 5-10 words only on the flag
Your write-up is clear, free of grammatical errors and shows thought put in to how the civilizations are similar.
Point Value: 30 points

If you have a C-or less in my class, you must have your progress report signed by a parent and sent back on Tuesday.
Homeroom, you must also have your Manila Envelope signed and brought back on Tuesday, October 12th.

I have noticed many 7th grade students turning in incomplete homework or no homework at all. We have many resources for students after school to get help with their homework including: After school Tutorials Mon-Thurs, Peer Helping after school and many open classes including my own. If possible, please encourage your child to attend these resources available to them.

8th Grade Historical Fiction Presentations
